Limon Rotisserie

A Colombian colleague told me that his favorite Bay Area restaurant is the Peruvian establishment Limon. High praise.

The menu is full, but any Peruvian restaurant will ultimately be judged on its polla a la brasa (rotisserie chicken). Limon offers an excellent rendition of this Peruvian national dish.

The tacu tacu (savory rice and bean cake) is truly exceptional.
On a recent visit I ordered a quarter chicken, tacu tacu, and sweet potato fries. The latter were the only disappointment, but this was really my fault. Peruvian pollo should always be matched with patatas fritas (normal french fries).

The mango lemonade is fantastic, and the empanadas (filled pastries) are top notch.

Limon's Burlingame location occupies prime real estate at the entrance to downtown, and prices are correspondingly high, although not as bad as I might fear given the location. There are also San Francisco, Walnut Creek, and Hawai'i locations.
